They say that money can’t buy happiness; well, in this case, you don’t need it, because these activities will be a blast and won’t cost you a single penny! Some of Toronto’s biggest festivals, markets, galleries, and more are all offering free admission throughout the month of September; check this list out for locations, specifics, and more information on some of the best ways to spend time without spending a dime (that one was cheesy but I’m proud of myself for it).
Royal Ontario Museum

The Royal Ontario Museum is one of the city’s biggest attractions, featuring many installations and exhibitions to capture anybody’s attention. They are offering free admission to their main floor for the majority of this month; check it out!

Backyard Festival

The Backyard Festival will conclude this weekend, featuring educational workshops, a vendor market, a trivia night, and doggy yoga! This festival is full of fun and things to do, focusing on freeplay and activities for children and families!

Redpath Waterfront Festival

The Redpath Waterfront Festival returns to Toronto for a weekend of music and more down on the waterfront! With ive music, activities, and more in two of Toronto’s finest parks, this festival is a great way to send off the summer.

Roncesvalles Polish Festival

For the first time in two years, the Roncesvalle Polish Festival returns to the streets! With over forty local restaurants, four stages of performances, three beer gardens, and a variety of activities for everyone, the Polish Festival is sure to be a great cultural celebration!
Where: Roncesvalles Ave, between Dundas St. and Queen St.
When: Saturday, September 17th to Sunday, September 18th.

Gallery Weekend Toronto

“Sister Seeds” by Azadeh Elmizadeh, exhibited at Franz Kaka.
One of the biggest art festivals in the city, Gallery Weekend comes to Toronto on the last weekend of September; with 25 participating galleries and a variety of exhibits, this festival is one of the more high-brow free things you can do in Toronto this month!

Just For Laughs: Free Street Festival

The world’s biggest comedy festival returns to Toronto, and is hosting their first-ever street festival! Just for Laughs is bringing their Beneva stage to the streets and will feature performances, food trucks, bars, art installations, and more!

The Toronto Symphony Orchestra

Celebrate the Centennial of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra with their all-access open house later this month. There will be activity stations, building tours, and a free concert featuring the symphony in full force for a jam-packed day of events!
