Also spelled Divali, Diwali is India’s biggest and most important holiday; the name is taken from the Sanskrit term Dipavali, meaning “row of lights”. The main celebration of Diwali takes place on the day of the new Moon, when the sky is at its darkest; as the festival symbolizes the victory of light over darkness (and good over evil), it is traditionally celebrated with candles, clay lamps, and oil lanterns. Celebrate Diwali, the Festival of Lights, with Moksha Canada
