A new experience has just arrived in the heart of downtown Toronto, and you don’t want to miss it. Located at the Harbourfront Centre, Public Sweat is a unique experience that fuses art, sauna culture, and sweat bathing all into one. If you don’t know what sweat bathing is, it uses hot air or steam that heats your body and induces sweat. Known for its physical and mental health benefits, Public Sweat provides a unique experience done through an artistic lens that will leave you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated, and even helps to enhance social connections.
For a limited time, experience a sauna village that will feature 5 one-of-a-kind artist-designed saunas created by FASTWÜRMS, Chris Foster, Simone Jones, Christie Pearson, and SHEEEP. Each sauna is unlike the others with varying temperatures, designs, and techniques. Aside from the beautiful designs of the saunas, there will also be several different artworks that will be displayed throughout the event space, including artists like Mitchell Akiyama, Ghazaleh Avarzamani, Kenneth Bamberg, and many more.
Enjoy the experience with friends, family, or a solo experience to enjoy a day of self-care and relaxation. You'll get to rotate through thermal cycles while admiring the art pieces as you enjoy this unique experience. Public Sweat will be filled with many firsts. There will be an outdoor sauna village filled with artist-designed sweat bathing spaces, shower stations & a cold rinse to go hand-in-hand with the hot/cold thermal cycles, and a campfire. They will have an indoor lounge & art space, light snacks, and hot & cold beverages will also be available. Fun events will also be happening throughout the space. Sound Bath will be happening every Thursday night, where there will be a live ambient music performance being played to help complement your post-sauna experience. Enjoy a relaxing live music session after your bath. Between April 12th-14th, guests will get to experience SOoUp, a live musical performance that is programmed by The Music Gallery paired with a side of free homemade soup. Along with Community Nights and No Sweat Open House, there is always something exciting happening at Public Sweat.
Art Spin is the team behind this newest project. Art Spin is known for its idea of combining art and unique experiences in public spaces where you least expect it. They have worked on some of Toronto's exciting contemporary art events, like the in/future festival at Ontario Place in 2016 and even the downtown exhibition area in 2019 for Nuit Blanche, just to name a few. This project is the only experience you can find in Toronto.
Only here until April 23rd, Public Sweat is a one-of-a-kind experience, so don’t forget to book your session to experience this unique opportunity. Each booking is for a scheduled 2-hour session, where you can move between all 5 of the artist-designed saunas, enjoy the lounge, and soak in all the artistic masterpieces. Enjoy the ultimate sweating session and trust us when we say that you've never sweated like this before!
